THE BALLAD OF GIGAHOOD
A small hat.
A very large problem.
As told by people who were almost certainly not there.
I.A hat was found.
He was an ordinary swamp frog until a feathered hat washed ashore. He put it on. His posture improved. His jaw squared. Somewhere, a lute began playing without permission.
He looked at his reflection and decided the forest needed a hero. The forest had not asked.
II.A legend was declared.
GIGAHOOD vowed to take from the rich and give to the pond. Unfortunately, he owned no bow, had no plan, and could not count.
So he redistributed memes instead. The merry frogs approved. The local economy remained entirely confused.
“Finally. A man of the puddle.”
III.The sheriff got upset.
The wanted posters went up by sundown. GIGAHOOD saw his portrait, nodded thoughtfully, and asked for twelve copies.
He is still out there. One hand on his chin. A hat two sizes too small. Carrying the whole forest on shoulders nobody can explain.
The legend continues.
His thought does not.
